Recovering lost files

I have part of the document saved but I worked on it for several hours
before ending my session and going to bed. I accidentally closed the
document without saving it when it asked me to. Is there any way to retrieve
or recover the extensive work that I lost? Contact me (e-mail address removed)

IF you have not used the computer at all, there's always the very, ...,
very, small possibility that Word's temporary files might be recoverable
using a data recovery service such as www.ontrack.com

Or you could try a program such as

I've used Ontrack, and mention the other programs only because I've seen
them mentioned by others, but do not know much about them.

I see all the good advice and have lost files also. There is an automatic
back up feature in Word 2003 that will save your doc. for you, if that will
help for future ref.
I have a built in recovery system in the accessories program drop dwn. list.
If you have that you may be able to go back to the time & date of loss and
bring the doc. back to life. Good luck.

Actually there isn't! There is a backup that saves a copy of the last saved
version and there is an auto-recover option, which purports to recover files
in the event of a crash - but any true backup function will have to be added

Hi,

If there are some temporary files that contained your lost data you can
try recovering it using data restore tools such as Active@ undelete or
Uneraser (for DOS only). Theese are IMHO the most powerful utilities
that never failed me before. They can really help you.
