Recovering missing email

R

Roy

Hi Folks-In ignorance, I moved my User Data Folder, and, like others
seeking help, have seemingly lost all of my emails and contacts. I
have tried (1) moving the User Data Folder back from an earlier
backup; (2) disabling Norton AntiVirus; (3) making sure Unread Only
was not checked; (4) calling technical support at Charter
Communications, my IP; and (5) opening the files in lost+found-all to
no avail.

However, when I do a Spotlight search on a missing email, Spotlight
returns a name--but no path; for example: Name = 'Progress on
Project'. When I click on this Spotlight result, I get a message that
reads: "Entourage cannot find this item. It may have been deleted or
renamed."

Is there anything I can do to recover my mail? Might it still exist
somewhere? Thank you.

disabling Norton AntiVirus

I know this is off-topic, but why in the world are you running Norton
AntiVirus on a Mac to begin with? There are no viruses in the wild for
Mac OS X, and it has been this way for the past seven years now.

Were you able to see any files in lost+found?

In your Library folder check to see if the spotlight cache files contain any
useable data.
