recovering office product code from laptop

Dear Group - I have my Office 97 disk and manual but
cannot find the disk box that has the product code. I
want to upgrade from 97 to XP, and just purchased an HP
Pavilion that has XP preloaded, but without the product
code from my Office 97 version (which I bought at Best
Buy, and didn't come with my laptop) I'm stuck. Any ideas
on how to recover the product code for Office 97?

Cheryl is correct in saying that you only need the older disc to perform an
upgrade. It is a good idea, however, to keep your product codes in a safe place
for emergencies. Go to www.magicaljellybean.com for KeyFinder, a free utility
that will display both your Office Key and your WinXP Key. Copy them down and
keep them safe for future reference.

If I read you correctly, you have lost your Office 97 CD key, and are
going to upgrade to XP, then put Office 97 on XP.

If you have not already upgraded to XP, you may be able to recover your
Office 97 CD key by using either AIDA32 (Enterprise Edition) or Magical
Jellybean Keyfinder.
