recovering outlook 2000 data from crashed computer

My laptop XP system crashed hard, and the system is unrecoverable, so I
have to do a system restore.

Before I do, I have taken the hard drive out, put in in an external usb
case, and backed up all my "data" except my most recent Outlook. I
have not saved a pst for about 3 weeks (I save them in my backup
folder).

I thought that there was a "native" pst file that outlook 2000
generated, but when I do a search for *.pst on the drive, all I find
are my backup copies. When I look in
C:/DocumentsAndSettings/User/dapplication data/microsoft/outlook/ I
don't find a pst file. The largest file I find in that folder is 1.4
MB (MY last saved pst is about 1.3GB)

Does MS outlook 2000 store my email/calendar/etc. data someplace else?
Can I just copy all of X, Y, and Z folders to my new computer (outlok
2000 is already installed on it but no data)? iF so, what folders
should I copy?

How is it that I don't ahve a pst file? That seems weird to me.

any ideas?

Thanks, I am out of comission until I figure it out...

it's in a pst and should be at C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local
Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook - are you showing all hidden
files and folders?

Thank you! I was missing the "local settings" part of the path, just
going straight into suse/applications!!!

Cool.

Now, this did not bring in my accounts, rules, and signatures. where
would those be located? in the "extend.dat" file?

thanks!

Those are in the Windows Registry. Exactly which key depends on whether
you're using OL 2000 in IMO mode or CW mode. It's easier to simply re-add
your accounts manually.

I believe those are in a file whose extension is .rwz in
%AppData%\Microsoft\Outlook
and signatures.

In %AppData%\Microsoft\Signatures
