Recovering Outlook 2003 Mail and Contacts.

A friend of mine had a HD crash. I was able to pull the
mail off as for Outlook in individual files. I don't
actually have a .pst or .wab file to import, just .mbx
and few others. I can't check at the moment, but I will
get the extensions if needed.

The problem, Windows XPSP2. Outlook 2003.

What folder do I put these files in so Outlook will open
up with mail and contacts? I know OE6 works this way with
the identity folder. Can you do this with Outlook?

I've already tried c\docs and settings\profile\app
data\microsoft\outlook folder with no luck.

Any help would be apprectiated.

..mbx files are for Outlook Express, not Outlook. If you want Outlook data,
you need a .pst file. Without that, the data is gone. Make sure that, when
you search, you're able to view hidden files.

Yeah, I just found out that she does have a .pst file. So
Outlook will only store in a PST?

Thanks for the help.

Correct, unless you drag a message out of a PST, in which case it becomes a
..msg file.
