recovery can a file be restored

I did a comnplete recovery on my computer today so I lost
all my data except for the ones I put on cd-rws and zip
drives. Comes to find out that my Microsoft Acess I
copied the shortcuts on the desktop so now I don't have
the data. Is there anyway to get that back.

Do you make regular backup copies? If those were actually copies, not copies
of shortcuts, that might save the day.

Every now and then, many of us (including me) have to be reminded of the
need to make backup copies on a regular schedule, and to test them to make
certain they can be restored, so as not to experience the kind of "surprise"
that you have had.
