Recovery mode?

Since some time my Outlook 2003 on startup reports that "Exchange is in
recovery mode".
My Outlook 2003 should be in cached mode as a remote user to a corporate
exchange server. It has so far however been working in "recovery mode", if
slower than normal. However, it has now stopped working altogether, and I can
find nothing anywhere in books or online about this "recovery mode".
Can anyone please assist me with this?
Thanks,

Recovery mode usually means that the mailbox is damaged or removed or changed so that Outlook can no longer connect to it. While you are in recovery mode, you should be able to export all your data to a Personal Folders .pst file, in case it turns out that some data is missing from your mailbox when you can connect to it again. You can then try connecting to the mailbox using a different profile that uses online mode or a new profile for Cached Exchange mode (if the old one no longer lets you connect directly).
