Recovery of emails and contacts

D

Daniel

Hi,

I recently reformatted my HD but forgot to backup my
outlook 2003 email. I used a program and managed to
recover the files from C:\Documents and
Settings\Dan\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook and the files Outlook (64Mb),
archive (265k) and extend.dat (1kb).

1. Are these the files in which the emails are stored in??
2. How do I restore the files to the new installation of
outlook 2003? I tried copying the files and outlook 2003
closes saying it is not my personal folder when it
starts. I tried importing and it says it is not a
personal folder.

Please help as I have important email...

Thanks in advance
Dan

It is the pst-file. It could be very well possible that the file has been
damaged. Run scanpst.exe against it to check it for errors. If scanpst.exe
can't make anything out of it the file is beyond repair.
