Recurring appointment trouble

I schedule weekly client appointments. When a client
cancels, I delete the individual occurrence. When a
client stops coming, I mark an end date for the
reccurrence series. When I mark the end date, the program
defaults and all of the appointments the past become the
same (so if I had canceled an appt two weeks before, now
it would say it happened). I am baffled and have found no
information to help. I cannot simply remove the appt
altogether because of billing purposes. Any ideas??
