Recurring IMAP error message

B

I use Outlook to check several IMAP email accounts residing on different
servers. I have Outlook set up to check for email every five minutes. For one
of my IMAP accounts, I routinely (many times a day) get the error message
"Your IMAP server has closed the connection. This may occur if you have left
the connection idle for too long." The details are "lost mailbox lock" on
Port 143.

The server tech folks swear that the server is set up correctly and insist
that the problem is with my client. Nothing I do, including changing the
timeout setting, gets rid of the problem. It's super annoying because when
the message pops up, it kicks me out of whatever app. I'm working in. I'm
looking for a fix or just a way to deactivate the message. My connection
doesn't even seem really to be lost b/c I do not have to reconnect to the
server afterwards; I just clear the message, and then everything works OK
until the message pops up again.

5 minutes may be too frequent for checks. Try changing to 10 minutes to see
if that resolves your issue.
