Recurring task daily hours are incorrect Project 2002

Christine

I have a recurring task for a resource that is 1 hour every work day for 5
weeks. The problem is that under resource usage, it shows that task as
taking up 8 hours every day. Why is this happening and how can I get it to
show just 1 hour of resource usage a day?

Hello Christine,

Double click on the recurring summary task and check the duration. It
sounds as though it may have been entered as 1d instead of 1h.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Duration is 1 hour. But when I went to resource usage and double clicked
where it showed 8 hours, I noticed that the resource was set to 100%. I
changed it to 12.5% (1 hour) and it is now fixed!

Hi Christine,

There is something wrong here. A resource assigned at 100% to a 1
hour duration task cannot be working 8 hours! The only way a task
with the duration of one hour can have a resource working 8 hours is
if s/he is assigned at 800%.

What are the start and finish times for the task?

It starts 6/23 for 1 hour duration and is a weekly recurring task M W F and
is set to end after 52 occurences. It is set so that each resource is 100%,
but is showing 8 hours in the resource usage window for that task.

Hi Christine,

If you are looking at the Resource Usage view -- you should see the
weekly meeting showing up as an *assignment* for each resource. Each
resource assigned to the meeting should be working 1 hour on the
assignment. There should only be 1 hour of work for each meeting. If
you look at the Resource row (usually shaded yellow), you may see 8
hours for the day *if* the resource is assigned to other tasks on the
day.

If you look at the Task Usage view you may see 8 hours in total if
there are eight resources assigned to each meeting.

I hope this helps.
