recurring tasks after task is completed

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)

When I started to use Entourage, I thought that the recurrence pattern option "after the task is complete, create a new task every X d/w/m/y" was going to be great.

My problem is that it creates a new task from the due date, not from the completion date if the completion date is later than the due date.

If I wanted recurring tasks from the due date, I could simply set the task to recur every X d/w/m/y.

Is there a way to have Entourage generate a new task calculated from the actual completion date? Am I missing something somewhere?

Can you post an example of your recurring task specifying the fields and
settings you're using?

Example:

Task: Y
No start date
Due Date: July 1, 2008
No Reminder
Priority: Normal
Occurs: Custom Recurring Task: After task is complete, create a new task due in x d/w/m/y (let's say 10 days).
No end date.

Now let's say I complete the task on July 3. From the language used, I expected the task to recur on July 13 (10 days after the completed date. But when I checked the complete box, the task generated a new recurring entry for July 11(10 days after the due date).

Am I expecting too much from the program? Is there a way to have it calculate the recurrence from the completion date?

I'm reproducing your problem. Definitely looks like a bug or at minimum
poor wording if this is expected behavior.

Please be sure to let Microsoft know you'd like to see this fixed in
future versions by using the Help --> Send Feedback mechanism in any
Office application.

I will also escalate to Microsoft.
