Red X displayed in Outlook 2007

OK, this is getting very annoying, I have tried everything in the book that I
can find online. For the last 2 weeks every message even those that are in
the safe sender list are showing the RED X for all graphics. I have the
"don't download pictures" setting in the Trust Center unchecked, In order to
see the message properly I have to use the web access to get the message.

So, Microsoft, What gives?

Okay okay, first things first. You say that you have already done everything
in the book. Did you or have you right clicked on the red x and chosen "show
pictures" or "show content" depending on the graphic??

Outlook does this sometimes to protect you from viruses, mallware, and stuff
like that. Also, when you right click on it is there an option to trust
this sender or something like that, it varies from version to version, do the
first and see if that allows you to view the e-mail properly. If it does
make sure to choose the "trust this sender" option on the next email from
that person, that will make it so you do not have to grant access to each
individual email from that person.

If you have already done this please elaborate on the steps that you have
taken so that I can help you pick it up from there.

When I right click on the red X all I get is the ability to copy the item.
That is the frustrating part of it. Can't even do a "show picture" or
anything like that. I have looked at the registry and even deleted the
contents of the temp directory where they are suppose to place the graphics.
I have checked and unchecks so many allow/disallow options that it is not
funny.

I ahve placed senders in the safe senders list and even the domain safe
senders list. Still Red X is everywhere. and with todays security some of
the information is contained in those red x's that I can not read.

Lets see, I have Outlook 2007 (12.0.6023.5000) MSO (12.0.6017.5000) version.

Okay,

Then the next thing is to verify that the Firewall is not blocking your
pics. To verify this make sure that the firewall is turned off and then try
to open the e-mail. Make sure to close then reopen outlook. If you are able
to see the pictures then either leave the firewall off or look for the
setting that needs to be allowed. Usually 'ad.doubleclick.net' if that is
blocked then unblock it. Turning off Firewall for the test though is the
easiest way to test that theory out.

Sorry, that did nto work, Thanks for the suggestion. I am stumped and
everything I find on the net I have tried, at least what I have been able to
find. It is real hard when a person sends you an email with the authcodes in
a jpg. I can't even access it.

Any one else have this probelm.

Found the problem, it is a reg entry called BlockHTTPImages found at this
location.
\HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Common\BlockHTTPImages
change the value 1 to 0 (zero) and it works, wonder why it was put in.

I have the same problem with the Red X's. I tried going into the
registry got to \HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Common\ location
and I can't find any registry entry called BlockHTTPImages. The first
folder I get is "Draw Alerts". I tried the find feature to find this
key and didn't find a thing (I used the words "block" and "HTTP"). I
am using Office 2007 Home and Student edition alongs side with a stand
alone Outlook 2007.

If you are in Outlook 2007 then the registry location to adjust is actually
at: \HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Office\Outlook\Options\MAIL and the
key is called "BlockedExtContent"
