Red Brook
A user created a powerpoint ppt in PowerPoint 2003 sp3 and saved it on a
network server. When he went to present it from the same file using a
different computer most but not all of pictures (jpegs) were boxes with red
Xs. When he returned to his PC and opened the same file, the images were
there. When the majority of other users on other PCs open the same file the
images are red Xs. The same pictures are always missing. A few users can
open the same file and see the images but only from their own PCs.
When another person logs into the first user's PC, and opens the same
network file, the images are missing. When the first user logs into his PC
after the other person and open the same file, the images are there.
It looks like PowerPoint is not saving the ppt correctly resulting in the
red Xs. But the images are retained in the on the first users PC in My
Documents files as hidden files and PowerPoint knows where to look. So when
the first user opens the file, the images are there.
