How do I have email that is sent to our Exchange 5.5 server then on to an
Outlook 2000 client redirected to a personal email account? I can't find any
settings on the Exchange server that does this, nor anything in Outlook that
does this, but I know it can be done. My boss is on vacation this week and
upper management wants it done pronto...HELP!

Use a rule.

Thanks for the reply, however, there are no settings under the Rules wizard
that permit forwarding or redirecting to an external personal email - only to
someone in the Global Address book. We need to send the email from internal
to external.

You can have multiple contact-type folders in Outlook. Create one for
just special uses and where you boss' personal e-mail address is listed.
Or do you ban via policy the use of contact-type folders other than the
global one?

Tools>Rules and Alerts>New Rule>Start from a blank rule>Check messages when
they arrive>Next. Choose what condition you want. Click Next. Select
"forward it to people or distribuition list". Click "people or distribution
list" and in the "To" field, enter an Internet address. Click OK, then
Finish. Now, that wasn't so hard, was it?

There is a drawback. I think Outlook will forward to an external address
only once per session.

The auto-reply rule keeps track and only sends out one copy of a
template response per sender; see
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/311107/en-us on how to emulate OOP with
a rule. I don't think the *forward* action keeps track of senders but I
suppose it wouldn't be too hard for the OP to test.

I didn't think so either, but someone else had posted that he was seeing
that behavior.
