Why do you expect a PDF to be any smaller than the file that was used to
create it - PPT or otherwise? The resulting PDF "could" be smaller but it's
more likely to be the same size or *larger*... It depends on several
variables including the nature of the original file & its content. For
example, I have a small PPt here which is only 78K & the PDFoutput is 123K.

There might be some options available but it would be most helpful if you'd
provide some additional info:

Why do you need the file to be smaller?
What is the nature of the "many visuals" you refer to?
What method/software are you using to generate the PDF?
What more can you offer to describe the content of the PPt file?

Dear Bob
Many thanks for you reply. From previous experience whenever I have created a ppt and have needed to email or protect I have always converted to pdf and it has reduced its size - maybe I have just been luck

To answer your questions
1. It needs to be smaller as need to email many clients
2. The visuals are all jpgs
3. The software I am using is the one already built into the mac computer when I save I just go to 'save as' with 'pdf' option

I have tried to reduce size of images by right clicking on image and 'format picture' then 'picture' but then have no option to compress
I am using office for mac 08

Really appreciate any advice
Thanks again
Janice

Hi Janice;

Keep in mind that JPEG is a compressed graphic format to begin with, so even
if PPt had an image compression feature it wouldn't reduce the file size by
more than perhaps 10%. Also, there are *2* PDF creator options: The one
available from File> Save As - PDF as well as the OS X generator in File>
Print - PDF, but they create files of comparable sizes.

For what you're looking to do I'd highly recommend that you use StuffIt to
create a .sitx to mail out.
