reducing file size

In an excel file, I just deleted a picture. When saving the fil again, I
noticed that the file size grew instead of being reduced. Does anyway know if
excel "save" things you delete, and if so how can you permantly delete things
to reduce file size?

Thanks, however I don't think that's the problem. I had inserted a small
picture in a cell (C12), saved the file, deleted the picture again and save
the file under a new name. I noticed that the file grew in size, even though
I deleted something from the file !

Offcause, I did this because I have another file, which seems growing all
the time no matter what I do (even deleting cells, formulars, pictures). I
hope you can help me with this.

99.9% of the time file bloat is due to problems with the used range. Check
that first even if you do not suspect it to be the problem. Once you have
truely ruled that out, if there is still an issue, we can look at it.
