REF docNum in Footer?

Hi,
I'm trying to populate a REF in the footer of a Word form document, but
can't get the footer REF to update when the form field "docNum" is updated.
Have any clues?

With Selection.Sections(1)
.Footers(wdHeaderFooterFirstPage).Range.Fields.Update
.Footers(wdHeaderFooterPrimary).Range.Fields.Update
