REF field value not printing correctly!

Hi

When printing Word 2007 document that was saved in Word 97-2003 compatible
mode, the REF field codes changes to "0" (zero) and obviously this is due to
Automatic Field updation during printing. I tried disabling the Update Fields
on the Print tab from Options but still the fields update automatically
resulting "0"s at the place of citation. What could be the problem and how do
we resolve it?

Even after following the instructions given on the below site did not
resolve the issue: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/954541

Any help on this will greatly be appreciated.

Thanks
Jayashree

REF fields reproduce the content of bookmarks. What is the content of the
bookmark and how is the bookmark filled and updated?
Is the REF field in the document body?

Graham, the REF fields are present in the bodytext and is referred to a
hidden bookmark in the same document to the References section of the
article. When I open the document, you see the correct value but when I print
the actual values changes to zero. Does this answer your questions?

I might have suggested this before. But can't you just unlink the REF
fields? That way they don't get updated before printing.
