REF field won't keep formatting when the referenced bookmark contains line break

I'm using Word97.

I have a bookmark in my document which covers several
lines of text.

At the bottom I use a REF field to repeat the bookmarked
text. The problem is that the REF field will only stay
formatted the way I want it on line 1 (e.g. 9pt normal
text). The next lines are formatted the same way as the
original text (e.g. 20pt bold text)!


Any thoughts on this?

Thanks Doug, that did the trick.

I'm surprised that the 'Keep formatting when updating
field' (might not be the exact words in the english
version of word97, I use the norwegian edition) tickbox
doesn't turn on CHARFORMAT, only MERGEFORMAT. CHARFORMAT
isn't even mentioned in the help files!
