reference cell

Is there a way to reference a specific cell in a separate
Excel workbook (ie, a different file?). I'd like to
reference a particular cell in a formula from one workbook
to another so that I don't have to update both files.

From the sheet where you want the reference (link),
open the workbook you want to link to, select the cell
that you don't want to update. Type =, with the mouse select the
other workbook (window in the menubar), select the source cell.
Press Enter and excel will finish it for you. Save the WB

Lisa,

With both books open -- wherever you want the link, type "=" (w/out quotes).
Switch to the other book (CTRL+Tab), navigate to the source cell, click on
it, press Enter. You can work the reference into your formula.

Rgds,
Andy
