Reference cube measures in enterprise custom fields?

Scenario: I'd like to be able to set up an enterprise custom field to
display graphical indicators based on overall project risk exposure.

I've built a nifty Data Analysis view that displays total risk exposure
using the [Measures].[Risk Exposure] field from the Risks cube.

I want to set up an enterprise custom field called 'Project Risk Exposure'.
Entity: Project, Type: Number. I would think the formula would be something
like [Measures].[Risk Exposure]. Then I'd set graphical indicators based on
overall risk exposure. However, the formula returns an error because, I
assume, it doesn't know how to reference cube fields.

you're correct in your assumption. A suitable approach would be to use
Reporting Services to generate your report.
