Reference Errors

Pam

I'm working with a Word 2007 document. I have used tracked changes to
display change bars. Now when I update the fields, I am missing tables in my
list of tables. Also, it deleted references out of my document (they're just
blank). The only way to remedy this is accept all changes in the document.
Then I have to "manually" go in and re-insert the change bars by cut/paste.
Can you help?

Hi Pam,

Any tables that have been marked as deleted will retain their numbering until such time as the tracked deletions are accepted. That
is necessary, since Word must retain the numbering in case the deletion change is rejected. What you could do is temporarily switch
off change tracking before deleting the table references. Then, unlink the reference (eg select it and press Ctrl-Shift-F9) and
change the paragraph Style to a non-caption style before switching change tracking back on again and deleting the range. That way,
you'll have the original (inactive) reference in the deleted range and your other references will correctly update..
