Reference Library - Need Code to Guarantee Functioning in 2000 and XP

I have an Excel sheet built with Excel 2000 - standardized bank
environment, which is in the process of upgrading everyone to XP - and
I need to guarantee compatibility in both operating systems.

The reference libraries: Excel 9.0, Office 9.0, ADO 2.7, Forms 2.0

Will having the bank include the Excel 2000 references with the Excel
XP distribution solve the problem?

Can I write code that will make certain that the correct versions load
for each operating system?

lets confuse you some more.

you say you want compatibility with both operating systems so i assume that
they are upgrading windows 2000 to windows xp. you should note that this
does not necessarily mean they are upgrading from office 2000 to office xp,
the latest version of office is office 2003 which is newer than office
2002/xp. and the office products are not included with the operating system
so they will have to install some version of ms office in addition to the
operating system to get excel on the machines. you should check to see
what version of ms office they are going to load and then configure a test
machine with windows xp and the proper version of office and test your excel
sheet.

pardon my sloppiness: the office version is 2003. I already know it
doesn't work, since I do have a test machine, and we have others
upgraded to 2003.

primarily, someone with 2003 opens sheet, which changes reference to
2003 version, user saves, then users with 2000 can not open file
becuase the library is not availabe in 2000.

need code to tell excel to load correct reference version based on
office version; concurrently, I plan on working with desktop personnel
to see if older versions of library can be included with office 2003
software distribution.
