Reference Numbering

Hi,

I wondering if it is possible to get word to number my cited references in
my document.

"To be or not to be..." [1]. More text
"Some other quote" [2].

[1] Shakespeare .....
[2] Somebody ....

I think the problem with this is that the numbering is inside a paragraph.

Usually one would use either footnotes or endnotes for this. If you do not
like the default footnote format, it's still easier to use the
numbering/re-numbering function of footnotes and change the formatting.
Start here for ways to make that easier:

"I want the numbers in my footnotes not to be superscripted, and I want the
numbers to be followed by a dot and a tab"
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/MacrosVBA/UnSuperscptFnotes.htm

Actually, let me take that back. Cross-references to a numbered list at the
end will probably suit you just fine, and Word will update those with other
fields.

Using endnotes seems to work fine. Except the formating. The numbers are
superscripted, and I can manual change them all, but is there any way to get
them not to be superscripted.
