Reference to another workbook

I have a complex workbook that asks me if I want to
update data from another file every time I open the file.
It doesn't need to reference any outside files so I would
like to get rid of the reference but can't find it.

Does Excel have a way to search for such references?

If you have Excel 2002 (aka Excel XP) or later then you can use the
Edit Links options. I am not sure what earlier versions have but you
could look and see. Go to the Edit menu and select the Links submenu.
There are a number of options to select. You want to break the links
from what you have said.

The other option worth taking a look at is the startup promote options
on the Edit Links dialog.
