references in Addin

I'm new to writing Add-in.

I wanna write add-in for office app for office 2000 app or up,
but i can only find PIA for office XP.

If i reference XP PIAs in the code project but call only
methods/properties supported by office 2000,
will there be any problem when it's deployed back in office 2000?
