References > Insert > Citations not working

I have Word 2007. In the past I have used the Reference ribbon and all went
well. Now I am trying to use it and I get the error message "Invalid source
specified." I get this message in the document as well as in "Manage
Sources" on the right and left window panes. This happens for any style I
try. I looked in the Bibliography/Styles folder and all the files are there,
but they don't work.
Help! Big project in progress. I have searched the web and everywhere I
have known but I have not found a solution to this problem.

Does the same happens when you try from scratch with a new document?

"Invalid source specified." mostly means that the field (citation or
bibliography) has no result to display. This could be because you have
no sources in your current document or because the tags in your fields
do not point to valid sources.
