Referencing Cell Colors - Help

D

Dj

In referencing cell simply using = , is there a way to get
the color format to transfer over to the new cell? It
seems like a simple request, but I can't figure it out. I
can't use a copy and paste special format because I'm
linking to an external file and I want to link the color
formats along with the data. Thx, Dj

Dj,

Select the source cell, click the paintbrush icon on the toolbar, then click
on the target cell. Formats copied.

I believe this question was asked in another Excel newsgroup, and
since the same people inhabit many Excel newsgroups you are not really
asking different people. If you don't like the answer you get , stick
with the same thread and indicate why you think there is a better answer.

Just because something is simple to ask doesn't mean that it can be
done in a simple manner. A formula cannot modify the formatting of
any cell including itself.

Besides the paintbrush, or copying a format for a static solution, you
might also look at Conditional Formatting

and at Event Macros

also of some interest for colors and of determining the color of another cell
