referencing in Word???

C

Chris Brokenshire

I am Mac OS X.3 Panther, Office X for Mac

How do I do the following:

1) I have created form templates for my business (estimate, purchase order,
invoice etc.). When I prepare an estimate I want the text and data to show
up in certain places on the other templates.

2) when one of the above forms is opened, I want the cursor to automatically
show up in the first cell/table/space/??? that data can be entered in and
then when data is entered I want the cursor to automatically jump to the
next cell that data needs to be entered in a certain order...NOT necessarily
the next cell beside or below that cell.

Do I need to insert small spreadsheets within the form? If so, how do I do
that?

Thanks very much in advance.
Chris

Hi Chris,

Word has a lot of ways to solve the puzzle.

You could use Data Merge to grab data from a Word or Excel document that has
the numbers you need.

Or you could link the data.

Or you could embed spreadsheets.

Each one of these approaches has specific behaviors that you may find
appropriate or inappropriate.

For starters, search Word's Help for Field Codes. That's my first choice for
where to start to find info about what you described.

Hhi Chris:

You need to create a Word Form. Thhis is quite a specialist subject and
there's a separate newsgrouop for it.

First look up Form Fields in the Help. Then go across to the Forms
newsgroup and ask your detailed questions there.

Cheers
