refering to a number at another place in the text

hello,

I have numbered my paragraphs using the "numbering" button of the "format"
toolbar. Now I would like to refer to a certain paragraph (say paragraph no
9) in another place of my text. I already succeeded in this but when I
change the number of the paragraph by e.g. inserting another paragraph
before the one to which I link unfortunately the number in the text doesnt
change - the paragraph is now "10" but at the place of the link there is
still a "9".

got it? :)

Has anyone a solution?
thx

Cross-references don't update automatically. You need to select the
cross-reference (or the entire document) and press F9 to update. Fields will
also be updated when you print (assuming you have "Update fields" checked on
the Print tab of Tools | Options).

I assume you referred to the number by inserting a cross-reference? You
just have to hit F9 to update fields, which will update the cross-reference,
which is one type of field.
