reflecting unendorsed phases in resource pool

Hi;

I'm using MSP professional 2003 ....

There are situations when a project is endorsed in a phased approach... a
project plan may have 3 phases and only one is endorsed. for the other two
phases, resources are identified but the timelines are not endorsed.

Project plan is connected to a master resource pool. I'd like to see the
impact of resources' availibility in resource pool with a distinction of
resource's allocation with timelines for phase 2 and 3 shwoing proposed
booking.

I can not make the resource as proposed using the resource information tab
as the same resource is being used for phase 1. is there a work around that
I can use to show a resource's tentative / proposed assignment for a project
in resource pool?

and no I do not have project central server...

Hello AZ,

The "proposed" booking type is a Project Server feature, so although you
see the option in Project Professional, it will not have any effect
without server. From what I understand from your post, the issue you
have is not that the resource is committed or tentative, but that the
assignment of the resource to specific tasks in the project is
tentative.

The only workaround I can suggest is to add a text field (perhaps with a
list) to the Resource assignment view and code the assignments manually.
You could then create a custom group to separate the endorsed vs
non-endorsed assignments.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Thank you for your response...

Having a custom field which can then be grouped is a good suggestion and may
work for other purposes... but what I am looking for is to see a resource's
commitments with a different 'highlighted' bar or indication that tells me
the proposed assignment... which I believe is only possible with server.

You're welcome AZ and thanks for the feedback. Yes, to the best of my
knowledge, I don't believe what I think you are seeking is possible in
Project 2007 without the addition of Project Server.
