reformat endnotes

We just upgraded from word 2004 to word 2008. My daughter typed a paper with endnotes. The endnotes appear at the end of the paper with the black line after the paper's text & superscript numbers however they are in the same size font as the paper with double spaces between each endnote. Although if an individual endnote is more than 1 line that 1 endnote is single spaced.

Therefore 17 one to three line endnotes take up over one page, instead of half a page.

If we convert them to footnotes they appear in small text with no spaces (the way they should when they are endnotes)_ If we convert back from footnotes they have the error I discussed above.

Okay. Put the cursor in an endnote. Go to Format | Style. Endnote Text
should already be selected. Click on Modify. Check the "add to template"
box and UNcheck the "automatically update" box.

I don't know if endnotes are usually smaller than the main text, but you
can change the endnotes to 10pt if you want. (personally, I don't use
endnotes at all).

Then use the little Format menu in the dialog to select Paragraph and
set the Space After setting to 0 pt.

OK your way back to the Format Style dialog and click Close to exit.

You should be good, and those settings should continue to be the default
for new documents. You might have to repeat the process to change old
documents.

Your question doesn't make any sense. Please explain what you want to
happen, what you try to make it happen, and what happens instead. Also
be sure to state your version of Word and OS. In addition, you are
likely to get better, faster help if you post a new question in a new
thread instead of hijacking an existing thread.

He's talking about for example 2 to the power of 2 or two squared the
little 2 that sit above and to the right. where as sub script would be
Number then the subscript number would be to the right and below. both
of these are say if normal print was 12 pt the super or sub script would
bin 6 pt format.

In end notes you usually number item with superscript numbers or letters.

To answer question Go to format menu > Font the choose supper or sub
script as needed. be sure to highlight just the item you want super or
sub scripted and only after you have type other items past the item to
be formatted otherwise everything will be in super or sub script until
you go back and change it.
