reformatting hard disks

Dennis

Can anybody give me advice on how to save my current OneNote postings and structure and reinstate them - notebooks, sections, pages, etc., when I reinstall.

Thanks in advance.

Copy the "My Notebook" folder to another disk. By
default it is a subfolder of "My Documents".

If you've changed the default location, then copy
whatever folder is specified in Tools | Options | Open
and Save | My Notebook.

The other parameters listed there that aren't files or
sections might be useful in a backup as well, for example
all of the internal OneNote backups made in the "Backup
Folder" value.

Why are you reformatting, Dennis? Do you have an issue you need fixed?
I've got a couple machines here which haven't seen a format since Windows XP
came out.

To save yourself some overall time, you may wish to take a look at using
Files and Settings Transfer Wizard (FAST for short):
http://www.aumha.org/win5/a/fast.htm in a great article by Gary Woodruff.

If you don't wish to transfer all your settings, plus other items over to
the new install, your OneNote files will be in C:\Documents and
Settings\(UserName)l\My Documents\My Notes and your OneNote preferences data
file is in C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Application
Data\Microsoft\OneNote.

Thanks for the answer, Erik.

Chris, I have a good reason for reformatting. I no longer wish to use system commander. Furthermore, the original xp pro on the system is cracked. The one I'm using is my own from msdn on another partitiion. Even the system commander is cracked, and two other programs the company installed are pirated. Also I've accumulated alot of junk and malware that I want to cleanse.

Yeah, I have the same concern like Dennis. A bit different senario.
I purchased a new pc and would like to installed my Onenote (leagal copy).
I've already installed my onenote on three pc, which I use for testing junks.
The question is can I uninstalled Onenote from one of the existing PC then
install it on the new PC with valid activation? If so, what procedure?
Can someone help on this?
Thanks,

George
