After 2 activations of the same product, you can't
activate it anymore using the Internet. I believe you can
still activate it by phone though. From what I've read on
Microsoft's press releases about the product activation,
the activation center has a no-questions-asked policy
about telephone activations. Of course each time you
activate the product that's logged to track if somebody's
passing their CD around, but if a rep just outright
refuses to give you an activation code, that's news to me.

IIRC, there was a "credulity limit" on the number of installs. I think it
was around 15 or so times, especially within a short period of time, say a
couple of months.
