Refresh

My app requires me to do the following:
1. Display a report so user can review
2. Give user ability to run a procedure, via a menu option, while the
report is displayed that updates tables and creates a Unique Invoice Number
3. Display this Unique Invoice Number on the report so the user can
print/email/fax .

I am having trouble doing #3. I can't seem to get this updated piece of
data on the report (will not allow me to refresh/requery or set a text box
field to new data)

Any ideas?

one needs to close and reopen the report to "refresh" it.
