Refund for Office 2003 because it won't work with Winfax 10.02

Ric

I recently bought Office 2003. When I installed it, Outlook kept freezing up
with Winfax 10.02. After lots of googling, I found that the progs are
incompatible, and that the only solution is to ring the USA and pay for a
disk to be sent out - and even then it may not work.

Since I need Winfax more than the new features in Office 2003, I decided to
go back to Office XP. But when I took my Office 2003 disk back to the
vendor, they refused. There is nothing anywhere on the Office 2003 package
to say that it does not work with other software installed, so I think that
this is very evil of Microsoft.

This has really convinced me to never buy another Microsoft product. If
Microsoft cannot guarantee that their products are backwardly compatible
with other products, and do not announce incompatibilities, and do not give
refunds, then I will not buy anything more from the company.

If you have had the product less than 30 days, Microsoft will give you a
full refund. Follow directions at the link below.

Here is a kb that states they will send you out the repair CD:

This is a Symantec WinFax issue, not Microsoft's issue.

Thanks for the reply. I will take back that link to microsoft and insist
they give me a refund. Problem is, my disk was a "special order" as I live
in France but wanted Office in English (default language is French). Hence
they got all sour when I asked for a refund.

No more upgrading software for me from now on! I got into all this mess
because I had to abandon Win ME because it was so bad, and install WIn 2000,
which has taken days of work. I didn't want to buy Win XP because after
googling I learnt that it causes probs with Winfax. I should have checked
with Office 2003 - but I sort of assumed that Microsoft would have liaised
with Symantec on this as so many people have WInfax installed....

Symnatec dropped the ball, not Microsoft. They gave up any development on it
and only provide a fix to version10.03 because of customer demands. It is
an abandoned product from Symantec.
