Regional Settings for Date with Outlook 2007

My regional settings for short date are:
MM/dd/yyyy

Today is August 25, 2009. If I start typing 08/2 into a contact note field,
I get a message:
08/25/09 (Press ENTER to Insert)

What I want inserted is 08/25/2009.

Any help would be appreciated.
