Registration doesn't work

Just installed Office 2004. After filling out much information, it
asks for the Product I.D. number. With the "About box" in Excel 2004
open, I very carefully copied the Product I.D number to the form (and
had a second person verify). I keep getting the error message
"invalid Product I.D." I've cleared the box and re-entered (again
having a second party verify) with the same results. This is a
legitimate copy that I purchased via mail order.

Are you sure you're entering the Product ID (found in the About box of
any app) and not the CD Key?

I'm having the same problem and have checked twice to make sure I'm
entering the Product ID number.

Is your code in the form of XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX?

Also, does your code have any 0's? Most likely they are zeros instead of
the letter "O".

Hope this helps! bill

Never mind. Just realized you're referring to online registration and
not activation of the product itself.

Yes, I was referring to on-line registration. Yes, I am
absolutely sure that I am entering the Product I.D. number
and not the key, and yes I am entering zeroes.

I did receive an email from Microsoft yesterday stating
that they are investigating a handful of complaints
similar to mine. I assume they will get back to me.

It's probably more than a handful. I had the same problem. Looks Like they
sent out a bunch of products anf failed to put the codes in their system.
However, the support page did recognize my product code, but that's
another issue, since there appears to be no e-mail support on Office 2004

I am experiencing the same problem with registration. The odd thing
is that it tells you to look in the help menu for the product ID. I
have only noticed one problem with using the office suite. When I
enter text using a font other than the default font and then select
inside the added text and then type something new, it does so in the
default font and not in the font that word or phrase is written in.

Does Office 2004 for Macintosh require "product
activiation" like its Windows counterpart?

No. Registration just allows you to sign up for a e-newsletter.
