Depends what you mean by Registration, the registration of an MS
application, eg Office, with MS is optional & bestows no rights
Activation is compulsary, if you want to continue using the app, and is
undertaken at the time of installation on a PC - It is not possible to
determin if it has been installed & activated on another PC
If you install and activate and your key is not excepted this might indicate
that it has been used before, but there again your version of Office might
allow activation on more than 1 PC
But you could the user name that appears in an Office component, which is
taken from the PC user name details
