Registration Issues

I reinstalled my copy of Office from the disc after a hard-drive
replacement was done at my local Apple store, then left for a study
abroad program. I forgot to copy my product keys and had to have them
sent to me by my family, but the Test Drive had already expired. Now,
I can't find any way to input my product keys and the program is
locked! Do I have to get them to mail the cd halfway around the world
or is there a way I can still register the install I have on here?

Yes, you'll have to have your CD mailed, unless you can find a CD
locally - there's nothing wrong with doing that as long as you use your
CD key.

Test Drive can't be "converted" to a standard version.

In the interim, I don't know what would happen if you use Remove Office
to remove Test Drive, then download and install it again, but it might
be worth a try.

Reset your system clock so that the Test drive will not show as locked. Use
"Remove Office" to remove the Test Drive. The removal process of Test Drive
is problematic and it's possible you will remove the installed version as
well.

See this page for other issues involving the Test Drive:

Remember to reset your clock. :)

Thanks a lot everyone. I thought I reinstalled the full version, so I
was admittedly confused when I got warnings about Test Drive
expiration. Is it possible I reinstalled the Test Drive from the
program disc? I suppose I'll try to remove the Test Drive in the
manner suggested and see if I can get the full installation up and
running then.

Quick question: Can anyone tell me what size the full installation's
application folder would be? That might be a helpful litmus test of
exactly what I did install. Or is there an installation log on OSX
that I could check? Thanks!

There should be an "Installer Log File" in the Microsoft Office 2004
folder if you installed the full version.

Aaaaaaaand fixed...

In the category of one mistake preventing a much larger one, it turns
out that I installed the full version of Office, but thankfully never
ran any of the files, opting instead to accidentally run the Test Run
like it was nobody's business. I found the full-install folder
tonight, and when trying to open Word on a wing and a prayer, *voila*!
It offered me the full "Complete Installation" page, complete with
requesting my product registration key. To top it off, it even found
the Test Drive Installation and kindly offered to remove it for me,
which went off without a hitch. Thanks to everyone who's contributed
to this thread - I would have likely gone on believing the Test Drive
was my failed installation and whimpered. You've been a huge help.
