Registry Policy Error

I have been saving Excel 2003 files for compatibily reasoons also in a LOTUS
1-2-3 WK.1 format for years. The ability to save in WK.4 format was blocked
some years ago already without any notification. All of a sudden Excel won't
even allow me to save in the simplest wk.1 format with a message, that my
"registry policy doesn't allow" me to do this. Any hint for help, please and
also hint as to why this happened in the first instance. I didn't change
anything!
