registry word 7 word 2002

I have both programs word 7 and word 2002 on my PC. I want
to have word 7 be the default program.

So I deleted the entry in 'Folder Options', 'File Types'
for word 2002. And clicked on the word 7 reg file.

Now when I click on a word document the message comes:
"Word can not open file (My.doc)"

After clicking OK, it says "Word can not open file
(documents.a1234.doc)"

What is wrong??

Also word 2002 seems to install itsself as the default.
How can I prevent that?

You can't! Word will always grab back its file associations when it is run.
