I know i can rehearse a continuous series of slides

But if i add a few elements later to the slide like photos or create a
change in the groupings etc an d i want that slide to dispaly for a
longer length of time that it originally did how may i rehearse ONLY
for a change in the timings of that particular slide in the series of
auto timed slides???

Yes, i know i can export the individuial slide to another new prez and
rehearse the same and then reimport it to the original prez and delete
the older slide whose timings were inappropriate but is there another
way to do it within ppt without the above effort??

with Powerpoint 2002, there is a button down the bottom on the left which
looks like a projector sheet. If you click on it, it starts the presentation
from the slide, and then you can press ESC to exit after the slide has finshed

Navigate to the slide whose timing you want to change. Do Slide Show-->
Slide Transitions. Change the amount of time that slide is on the screen. If
you are using 2002 or later, just change the time it will automatically
update the slide. If you are using an earlier version, you will need to OK
your way out.

Try it and let us know if it does what you need.

I believe life is meant to be lived. But:
if we live without making a difference, it makes no difference that we lived

Thanks Kathy J - but that's not what i meant - I meant i have added
lets say another picture and need to get the time spacings betwen the
exit of the first and the entry of the second perfect and harmonious -
can i do a re-rehearsal of the timing for this particular slide by
clicking and capturing my times??
