Reinstall of Office X: CD Key not recognized

Ander

Hi,
I've searched the posts and have seen similar issues, but nothing to
answer my dilema: I erased my hard drive (on purpose!) and just
installed Tiger OS 10.4.7. I've been reinstalling software and all is
going well. EXCEPT Office X; I installed from the same CD I did before
and now it won't recognize the CD Key!! Is there an issue w/Tiger and
Office X? Is there a max for how many times you can re-enter the key? I
worry I made some typos and am now locked out forever. Or should I
reinstall Office X again?

Thanks!!

No there is no limit to the number of times you can enter the same key.

It is possible that the CD Key has been disabled by Microsoft because it has
appeared on Pirate lists, but this shouldn't affect entering the key into a
fresh installation off the same CD as the key came with. Did you get your CD
from a reputable source, or is it possible that you have been sold a pirated
version?

The other option may be that the Key os for an upgrade version, and the
installation can't verify the existence of a prior version. Usually all that
is necessary to achieve this is that the original version CD needs to be in
the drive at the time. However, if this was the problem you should be
getting a fairly explanatory error message.

Of course, the simplest explanation would be that you made a typo -
confusing zero with the letter 'oh', for example?
