I can not get the auto run to work on my office 2003 student edition cd.
Windows installer window appears but stalls then I get several copies of that
appearing on my desktop. 2003 is not working at all so I was going to run
repair. How do I get the cd to run so I can reinstall or repair?

Insert the CD into the CD drive. Assuming you have Windows XP,
click on Start | Control Panel | Add or Remove Programs |
Microsoft Office 2003 | Change | Reinstall or Repair | Next |
Detect and Repair errors in my Office installation | Install.

Sorry it is Vista Ultimate SP1. I got the installer pop up again but then read
This update package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and
that you can access it, or contact the application vendor that this is a
valid Windows Installer update package.
I did have Office 2003 SP3 in full working order until the trial version of
2007 took over the application and rendered it unavailable. Windows Installer
keeps coming up when I open other applications as well.

The Office 2003 Student & Teacher edition cd also does not auto run just
opens with all files showing. No Install so that I can reinstall if I need to.

You don't really need autorun to work. Just insert the CD, then
click on Start | Computer | Install or run program, and choose
the setup.exe program on the CD.

Should I Uninstall Office 2007 first and start completely fresh? Sorry to be
such a pain. Any special requirements for doing this. Office 2007 was never
registered and the trial time has expired. That is when 2003 become
unresponsive and not work. When I reinstall 2003 what service pack do I need
before SP3?

If Office 2007 is a trial version, uninstall all versions of Office together
with any activation assistant, reboot. Then run disk Cleanup to remove temp
files, reboot. Then install Office 2003, after which run MS Update
If Office 2007 trial fails to uninstall, then review this article

before going any further.
