Reinstall or Uninstall MDAC

I know from research that my mdac is very screwed up on my machine. I cannot open databases with .net code. Recieve errors all the time. I have tried reinstalling mdac2.8 but they dont do anything if its already installed. I have used microsofts utilities to check my mdac but its only for 2.7 and lower. Is there anyway to uninstall mdac and start from scratch again? Im using windows xp.

I would first like to thank microsoft and the community on this great
thread of discussion and help on this issue. With that said seeming
my computer was useless without data access working I went ahead and
just deleted my c:\program files\common files\system\ado and \ole db
directories. Then i MANUALLY extracted files from MDAC_TYPE.EXE and
then MANUALY extracted the cabinet files into the appropriate \ado and
\ole directories on my computer since the automatic install wont do it
for me. And guess what yay it works. My Enterprise manager works
now. So does any JET programming trying to open databases.
