Reinstalling beta to include OneNote

A

Austruck

I've been running Office beta (with the refresh) on my desktop and my laptop
computers just fine. I noticed today, though, that my laptop has OneNote
2007, but my desktop does not. It still has my OneNote 2003 on it.

The desktop has more disk space so I kept the original beta installer file
there. I assumed I had just not checked a box or menu or something upon first
installation and therefore never installed OneNote 2007 on this computer.

I tried to reinstall the beta on the desktop, to include OneNote, but I see
*no* option for it in any of the Office install drop-down boxes, and it is
still v. 2003.

Question: How did I get OneNote 2007 on the laptop and not the desktop --
and what can I do to correct this so I can share my OneNote files between
computers?

I can't share these notebooks at all now that one has 2007 and one has 2003!
And I can't re-download the beta installer anymore, either.

THANKS!

Linda

OneNote 2007 Beta 2 was a separate download. The filename was OON-EN.EXE
The B2TR patch for OneNote is contained in the overall B2TR patch
though. If you find the file, then you need to remove all office 2007
programs, install all of them (including OneNote) as Beta 2 and then
apply B2TR.

Thanks! This is VERY clear and helpful. If I have (stupidly) deleted that
OON-EN.EXE file, though, I suppose I am out of luck entirely...? ...because
all the beta downloads are now gone...?

(she asks, nervously...)

I will see if I kept that file and will do as instructed, if it's here.
Thanks for the prompt response.

Sadly, it is gone. I had downloaded via my laptop, which has limited
resources, and once installed, I deleted it. I empty my Recycle Bin
immediately.

I had intended to go upstairs and download the file from my desktop computer
and install it there separately ... but didn't get around to it before the
download was removed from the MS site.

Should I (can I?) uninstall 2007 One Note from the laptop and go back to
both computers using the 2003 version for now? (I had been using a Windows
Briefcase to update them across two computers.)

If I can uninstall cleanly and restore original files, I will. No, I didn't
delete anything that seems to now be marked as "backup" since the 2007
upgrade....

Thanks for any (continued) help!

If you prefer 2007 over 2003, then I'd just wait. MS announced that it
would RTM in November. I personally would expect trial versions to be
available after RTM at some point.

Thanks. This is what I just told someone I was going to do -- just wait and
upgrade. Until then, I guess I am stuck using different versions on different
computers...? Sounds like the data isn't compatible between versions, so I
can no longer briefcase the data because one is using 2003 and one is using
2007. (The briefcase is on the 2007 machine.)

Is this correct?

(Sorry to keep asking questions! Almost done!) :)
