Reinstalling Office 2000

R

Rich

Hello,

I would like to reinstall Office 2000 on my computer. However, Word 2002 is
currently installed (I think it came pre-loaded as a part of MS Works). Can
anyone tell me how to proceed so I won't screw anything up?

Thanks in advance,
Rich

Hi Rich,

Do you mean reinstall as in use Add/Remove Programs and select the
Reinstall option for Office 2000 or do you mean install Office 2000?

If the latter then change the default install folder and you should be
okay. :)

Thanks for your reply, Beth...

To clarify, I meant reinstall Office 2000, since it is still on my
system--about 97 MB's worth. I really just want to go back to using all of
its modules, including Word. I thought I'd have problems/conflicts if there
were overlapping versions of the MS Word. I thought, perhaps, that I should
uninstall Word 2002 first and then proceed.

Would this be your suggestion?

Thanks again,
Rich

Hi Rich,

Microsoft recommends that you install from earliest to latest:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q218861

So if you want to follow their advice then uninstall Word 2002 first
and then reinstall it. Note you need to change the default
installation path in order to retain previous versions.

(Personally, I would just install and see what happens - but that's
me. <grin>)

Also, if you are using two different versions of Word the Windows
Installer will kick in each time you switch versions. This is
considered 'normal' behavior and there is little you can do about it.
