Reinstalling office 2000

Bought gateway computer in 2001 with office 2000 already installed. Have
disks but no product cd key. Called gateway they said I have to get it from
Microsoft, how?

You can't. It woiuld have to come from Gateway because it was preinstalled.
And because it is that old, there's no way anyone will be able to get you a
new code. If it was newer, there are programs that can help you but none
exist for Office 2000.
